Rainbow Sparkles

Hey all,

I was sent these nail art glitter sequins from the Born Pretty store a day or so ago. I only had time to do the one manicure but I think it can out pretty decent for a first go!This is a fairly picture heavy post. One because I really like the look and two because it took a good fair bit of time so I'm making the most of it (ha!)

Here are the tools I used: 5 glitter sequins (blue, green, silver, red and yellow) a pen, tinfoil and the Essence Gel-Look topcoat. Pretty basic and inexpensive items! Great for creating a pretty eye-catching look without spending a fortune.

I started off with a base coat of NYC Midtown (240). When that was dry I started with the red sequins and pretty much followed the shape of my nail all the way around. I copied this on each nail before switching to the next colour.

I followed the pattern suggested by the lovely Demelza HERE. All you do is paint on a bit of your topcoat in small sections where you are going to place the glitter, dip the nib of your pen into a tiny bit of the topcoat (I put a drop onto a piece of plastic) to grab on to the glitter and dab them onto the nail. Then repeat the process until the whole nail is complete. It's that easy!

The glitters are really easy to work with and even after adding on a topcoat the colours didn't run so it kept the pretty rainbow effect. I like the size as you can really get some fun designs and work them out on your nail without it looking too crowded or squashed together.

It was an absolute pain in the arse to capture on camera though! I swear I was close to giving up on it. The colours are so vivid and it looks so intricate even though it's a fairly basic design. Anyone with half a steady hand will fly through this. It's a fun way to liven up your nails for an event, graduation or a party. Or if you're any way like myself, for a lazy day at home looking at nail polish swatches :P

Overall, I am incredibly pleased with these glitters. For a pack of 12 (see the first picture at the start of this blog) it costs $6.45 and you get a fair lot in each little pot. I cannot wait to play around with these a bit more and see what I can come up with. I have a few ideas in mind but whether or not I can actually make them work is a whole other story :P
