Smoky glitter gradient

Hey all,

Something nice and simple for today.  I really love glitter gradients and they look great on all nails whether they are short or long. For this manicure I went for Elf Smoky Brown (2 coats) and a glitter gradient of Lac Attack Garden Party. I love the way this turned out. To make it stand out a bit more I added on a matte topcoat using the Essence soft touch matte topcoat.

Now a question for ye,  do ye own a matte topcoat and do ye actually use it? I rarely do even though I like the effect. I was told that matte polishes chip far more quickly so I don't bother with it. What's the point of wasting all that time just for it to chip super quick!

  1. Ahh, that's gorgeous!
Funny you should mention it, just recently I rediscovered my love for matte nails and started using various matte TCs more often. :)

  2. This is so cute! Glitter is so much more prominent when you use matte topcoat. I use matte topcoat only once a year I think :-/

    1. I swear I only ever use it because of the effect it has on glitter! It's so much more sparkly and easier to capture on camera

  4. LOVE this! Such a good combination. I actually am about to put on a matte polish but will have to put on a matte top coat to stop it chipping..don't trust it as much as my seche vite but otherwise I'll lose the matte! Urgh.

    1. That's the same problem I have. It chips so easily so you are paranoid it'll chip as the day goes on. Plus you'll just have to re-do your nails.

  5. This looks beautiful! Yes I have a matte top coat, but I forget to use it. I just saw that one blogger use it over acrylic paint.

    1. Thanks Lani. Oh I have to try it over acrylic paint. I know it tends to run so that might be a problem but it's worth a try at least!

  6. I own like 5 different matte top coats and find myself only using it once in a while. What I have learned though to make it not chip as fast is apply a coat of regular top coat let it almost fully dry and then add the matte one, it holds on a little longer. I love this mani and I need do a matte glitter mani soon, I forget how gorgeous they are <3

    1. It's actually brown but the matte topcoat makes it look like a dark grey :)
